Successful Inter-House Maths Quiz Marks a Triumph on Children's Day

In a celebration of intellectual prowess and healthy competition, our school recently hosted an Inter-House Maths Quiz for students from classes IX to XII. The event, which commenced with a preliminary round on October 30^th, 2023, witnessed 270 students vying for a spot in the finals. Out of this pool, 16 exceptional students emerged as finalists, marking the beginning of a riveting journey.

Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma graced the occasion with an inspiring address, imparting valuable life lessons. Emphasizing the importance of knowledge, curiosity, and teamwork, her words resonated deeply with the students. The Principal’s blessings served as a wellspring of motivation, encouraging all present to strive for excellence in every facet of life. She commended the teachers for orchestrating an intellectually stimulating competition.

Adding a unique touch to the event, the competition was exclusively managed by a team of students, meticulously trained by the Maths faculty. Teachers took a back seat, allowing the young minds to take charge while providing guidance when needed.

The competition comprised five challenging rounds, each designed to test different aspects of mathematical acumen:

Picture Round: Kicked off the event with a display of images containing hidden meanings or clues, challenging participants' observational and analytical skills.
Competency Round: Evaluated the depth of participants' knowledge across various mathematical topics.
Brain Twister Round: Presented intense questioning, testing quick thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Maths History Round: Explored the historical facets of mathematics.
Mixed Bag Round (Buzzer Round): An electrifying climax where participants raced against the clock, hitting buzzers to provide accurate responses, with penalties for incorrect answers.

Introduced by the Head of the Department, Ms. Indira Sukumaran, the student panel, Ms. Lakshmi Balasubramaniam( Comperer), Aman Shaji & John Immanuel (Quiz masters), Anirudh Gowri Sankaran & Joel Jose Manoj ( Score keeper) added vibrancy to the event. The audience actively participated in an 'Audience Round,' enhancing the overall excitement and encouraging wholehearted engagement.

The Mathematics Quiz Competition achieved glorious success, testing not only the students' knowledge but also promoting teamwork, quick thinking, and a passion for learning. The coveted winner's trophy was lifted by the Green House, with the Blue House securing the Runner's Up position.

Principal and teachers extended heartfelt congratulations to all the participants and applauded the efforts of Ms. Indira Sukumaran (AVP & HoD Mathematics) and the in-charge teachers Mr. Roopendra Sharma, Mr. Bijo Joseph, Ms. Omana Krishnan, Ms. Sophia Kishore, and Ms. Rajeena Rassak for the seamless conduction of the event on Children’s Day.

As the event concluded on the auspicious occasion of Children's Day, the air was filled with a sense of accomplishment and the promise of more such events to nurture the intellectual growth of our students. The Inter-House Maths Quiz stands as a beacon of success, fostering a love for knowledge and healthy competition among our students.
