“Poetry comes alive to me through recitation" - Natalie Merchant

Rhymes are a fun and engaging way for kids to learn new words and expand their vocabulary. Recitation has its own rhythm, music and expression which are very much helpful for a child's language development, cognitive development and emotional development. Memorizing and reciting poems can help kids improve their memory skills.

English Rhymes / Poem Recitation Competition was conducted for the students of LKG & UKG on 13th September 2023 at Indian School Sohar under the guidance of the section Supervisor Ms. Gauri Gadgeel.  The main objective behind conducting the competition was to build self-confidence, develop oratory skills and self-expression in students.

Our cute and confident blooming buds enjoyed the beauty of expression, rhythm, action and voice modulation. They astonished the judges and teachers with their amazing memorizing skills. It was a very good attempt to bring the tiny tots one step further in enhancing their interpersonal skills and motivating them to present themselves with such confidence. Students recited rhymes / poems on the various themes like animals, vegetables, magic words, sense organs etc.

The judges of the competition were Ms. Mrudula V Channa, Ms Ambili Nair and Ms. Sweety Sinha.
