Gandhi Jayanti, also observed as International Day of Non-violence, is celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of our nation- Mahatma Gandhi. Bapu’s  birthday was celebrated in ISS by organizing a special assembly, on 2nd October 2023, with great zeal, enthusiasm, and patriotism.

The assembly began by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi with a floral tribute offered by the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, Vice Principal Mr. Yashvir Singh, Assistant Vice Principal, Ms. Indira Sukumaran and other members of the staff.  This was followed by a soulful rendition of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite song, ‘Vaishnava jana to….’ by the Music teachers Ms. Maitrayi and Mr. Mamtaj Hossain Chowdhury.

Next came a video presentation about the lesser known facts about Gandhiji. It showcased his worldwide appeal and traced his journey of greatness in simplicity. It threw light on his universally acknowledged and appreciated efforts for the benefit of entire humanity.

The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma addressed the students and talked about the glorious achievements of Gandhiji. She reminded the students about the importance of kindness, truth, non-violence, and peace- values that Mahatma Gandhi stood for. She urged the young students to tread the path of success with discipline and to practice compassion through words and deeds.

The special assembly concluded with the National Anthem of India.
