INDIA'S PRESIDENCY G20

05-05-2023

The Embassy of India in Muscat announced the participation of Indian Schools in Oman in 'India's Presidency G20' by conducting various programmes. The G20 is a forum for the world's major economies to discuss global economic issues, and India is set to assume the presidency of the G20 in 2023.

In line with this, Indian School Sohar organized three activities aimed at creating awareness about environmental issues among students. These activities were a poster/drawing competition on beach cleaning, a pledge campaign to avoid single-use plastic and marine litter, and an awareness campaign on endangered marine species.

  1. The poster/drawing competition which aimed to raise awareness about the importance of having clean beaches and reducing pollution. Students were given themes related to beach cleaning and the importance of keeping beaches clean. The competition was well received by students, and it helped to educate them about the impact of pollution on beaches and marine life.
  2. The pledge campaign aimed to encourage students to reduce their use of single-use plastic and properly dispose of waste. Students took a pledge to reduce their use of single-use plastic and properly dispose of waste.  The campaign helped to instil a sense of responsibility and commitment among students towards the environment and marine life.
  3. The awareness campaign on endangered marine species was conducted in collaboration with the school's eco-club and science department. The campaign was launched during the morning assembly, where students were informed about the negative impact of human activities on marine life and the need for conservation efforts to protect endangered marine species. The power point presentation covered various topics related to endangered marine species, including challenges they face due to human activities. The presentation also highlighted the importance of marine conservation and the need for sustainable development. The presentation was interactive and engaging, with videos and images of marine species that helped to create a visual impact on students.

In conclusion, raising awareness in schools about endangered marine species is an important step towards promoting marine conservation and protecting oceans. By educating the next generation of leaders and decision-makers, we can ensure a healthy and sustainable future for our planet.
