Dr. Analpa Paranjpe focussed on the importance of being sensitive towards the children with special needs by citing various examples. She emphasised on the different parameters of identifying their learning difficulties which had different aspects. She briefed the teachers about their role in handling such children and being sympathetic and patient to them which would be really beneficial. Ms. Anumol Joseph and Philomina Jacob, the special educators of her team elaborated on ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactive Syndrome) and Autism - its symptoms and strategies. They highlighted on early intervention and diagnosis for the betterment of such children. The session was made interesting and interactive by incorporating activities and games.
The seminar was highly appreciated by the faculty members of ISS. It was an eye opener for everyone as henceforth as rightly suggested by the resource person; the term disability should be replaced by difficulty which can be overcome by implementing appropriate strategies.
