WORKSHOP ON SETTING OF QUESTION PAPERS

29-09-2025

A Professional Development Programme on the topic Setting of Question Papers was conducted on the afternoon of 27th September 2025 at Indian School Sohar. The session was attended by teachers of Indian School Sohar.

The Resource Person for the programme was Mr. Arun Senan Vijayasenan, PGT Economics and Coordinator of Examinations at Indian School Al Maabela. Through interactive activities and discussions, he guided teachers on the essential principles of designing question papers. A well-structured question paper should reflect curriculum standards and learning objectives, include a variety of question types to assess different learning domains, maintain balance and coherence, ensure fair and consistent evaluation, frame questions clearly without ambiguity or bias, and uphold quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout. Along with technical aspects of question paper setting, the Resource Person also emphasized the Assessments play a crucial role in enhancing student learning. They are not just tools for grading, but powerful instruments for feedback, motivation, and improvement.

The programme further encouraged teachers to integrate classroom discipline strategies with assessment practices, ensuring that students approach examinations with sincerity and preparedness.

Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal of Indian School Sohar, expressed her sincere gratitude to the Resource Person for his valuable guidance and practical strategies. She also thanked the Board of Directors for organizing such enriching programmes, describing them as highly effective and instrumental in enhancing teachers’ professional growth. The programme concluded with a resolve among teachers to apply the best practices in question paper setting and continue nurturing discipline among students for holistic academic development.
