The Department of Social Science, Indian School Sohar, organized the Model United Nations (MUN) Assembly 2025 on 5th November 2025, providing a platform for students to showcase their diplomatic and leadership skills.

Ms. Navjot Kaur Saini, Faculty Member, Department of Social Science, presented an insightful overview of the program, emphasizing the purpose of conducting MUN as a key strategy for youth development. She highlighted its role in training students in international diplomacy and offering them opportunities to engage in global affairs.

The MUN was conducted on the theme “Global Polycrisis,” exploring five major aspects of the topic, with a resolution drafted for each. Student delegates representing twenty different countries were grouped according to their national perspectives and collaborated to formulate feasible solutions that reflected their respective countries’ positions.

Student mentors supported delegates in research, speech preparation, and delivery, helping them understand international MUNs better. They also presented a video highlighting the MUN’s journey and its valuable experiences.

Mr. Yashvir Singh, Vice Principal, described the MUN as an ideal stepping stone into the global arena. He emphasized the importance of public speaking and diplomacy, commending participants for their efforts and encouraging them to enhance their communication and global awareness.

Mr. Rajasekaran, Head of the Department of Social Science and Coordinator of the programme, joined the Vice Principal and Assistant Vice Principal in distributing certificates and congratulating the mentors and delegates for their commendable presentations.

The event was an enriching experience that fostered leadership, responsibility, and global awareness among students.
