The Physical Education Department of Indian School celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm and zeal to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
The celebration began with the Sports Captains, Neha Antala and Tejus Surepally, escorting the Principal, Sanchita Verma and Vice-Principal, Yashvir Singh onto the stage. They impressed everyone with their beautifully synchronized marching and drill, setting a disciplined and energetic tone for the day. After a warm welcome, the Principal, Vice Principal, and teachers offered floral tribute at the portrait of Major Dhyan Chand. The stage and playfield were vibrantly decorated with flags, flowers, and hockey sticks, reflecting the spirit of the occasion.
The Principal, Sanchita Verma addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of engaging in sports activities for at least one hour daily to remain physically and emotionally fit. She encouraged students to take up at least one sport and devote time to pursue it passionately.
Following her inspiring speech, the Principal inaugurated the first 3-a-side hockey match between the teachers and students. A football match was also organized for boys and teachers, adding excitement to the event.
A special highlight of the event was the appearance of NSD Robo Car, a robotic assistant which brought charm to the celebration by bringing the football to the center of the field. The Principal kicked off the match, adding a special moment to the day.
Various recreational and fun games were organized by the Physical Education students of Class XI, which saw enthusiastic participation from both staff and students. The entire school community actively took part and thoroughly enjoyed the celebrations.
The Principal appreciated the tireless efforts of the Physical Education Department, led by Mr. Kamal Prasad Gurung (Head of Department), and his dedicated team members Mr. Nikhil More, Mr. Niyas Ali, Mr. Sachin Ali, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, and Ms. Vaishnavi M. S. for organizing such a dynamic and engaging celebration of sports and fitness.
