The Earth Day, observed annually on 22 April, is a global event dedicated to environmental protection. The theme of Earth Day 2026, "Our Power, Our Planet" emphasises the vital role of communities in advancing climate action and accelerating the transition to clean and green energy. The campaign also focuses on the prevention of wastage of electrical energy and natural resources, strengthening the green economy, environmental protection, and plantation drives.
Indian School Sohar celebrated Earth Day with great enthusiasm, focusing on creating awareness about environmental conservation among students. The programme included a variety of student-led activities aimed at promoting sustainable practices.
Students participated in awareness programmes highlighting the importance of protecting the environment. Junior students presented a skit to convey messages on reducing waste, conserving resources, and adopting eco-friendly habits. Musical performances, including songs and dances, added vibrancy to the celebration while reinforcing the theme of caring for the planet.
The Earth Day Pledge was administered to promote awareness and inspire students towards sustainable living and environmental responsibility.
As a practical initiative, compost bins were installed on the school premises to encourage waste segregation and recycling. The event successfully instilled a sense of responsibility among students towards building a greener and more sustainable future.
