To honour the 165th birth anniversary of Shri Rabindranath Tagore, the students of Class V H at Indian School Sohar conducted a vibrant and inspiring morning assembly on Thursday, 7th May 2026. The programme beautifully celebrated the life, wisdom, and timeless contributions of the legendary poet, philosopher, musician, and Nobel Laureate fondly remembered as Gurudev.
The assembly commenced with a solemn prayer, creating an atmosphere of peace and reverence. A floral tribute was then offered to the portrait of Shri Rabindranath Tagore by Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma, Vice Principal Mr. Yashvir Singh, Assistant Vice Principal Ms. Indira Sukumaran, and Headmistress Dr. Sheenam Samuel, paying homage to the visionary who enriched Indian literature and culture with his extraordinary works.
One of the highlights of the assembly was a melodious Bengali song presented by the students, which filled the atmosphere with grace and showcased the rich musical heritage of Tagore. The young presenters also enlightened the audience with a thoughtful narration on his remarkable journey and his immense contributions to literature, music, art, and education. Their confident presentation reflected not only knowledge but also deep admiration for the literary icon.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Principal Mr. Yashvir Singh appreciated the sincere efforts and enthusiastic participation of the students. He encouraged them to imbibe Tagore’s ideals of creativity, compassion, curiosity, and universal brotherhood in their daily lives.
The assembly was conducted under the guidance of Headmistress Dr. Sheenam Samuel, Ms. Nikku Saira, and Ms. Maitrayi, whose dedicated efforts ensured the success of the programme. The event concluded with the singing of the Indian National Anthem, leaving the audience inspired and reflective.
The special assembly served as a meaningful and enriching experience for the students, reminding everyone of the enduring legacy of Rabindranath Tagore and his vision of a world filled with knowledge, harmony, and humanity.
