Thrilling Cricket Action at Sohar
The much-awaited boys’ cricket match between Indian School Sohar (ISS) and Pakistan School Sohar, organized by Mangalore Friends Sohar (MFS), turned out to be a thrilling spectacle for cricket lovers on 23rd January 2026.
Winning the toss, Indian School Sohar, led confidently by Avaneesh Gupta, elected to bowl first, made an immediate impact. In the very first over, Parth Mandaylaywala provided the perfect start with a superb delivery, brilliantly backed by a stunning deep mid-wicket catch from Joel Christon, handing ISS an early breakthrough. The bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths throughout the innings, bowling economically and restricting Pakistan School Sohar to 48 runs in 6 overs.
Chasing a target of 49, openers Avaneesh Gupta and Joel Christon started steadily, scoring 13 runs in the first two overs. The momentum shifted dramatically in the third over as the pair accelerated the scoring, smashing 20 runs and putting the opposition under pressure. Indian School Sohar sealed a convincing victory in just 4.3 overs, finishing the match in style with a massive six by Arav Raina.
The ISS boys displayed excellent teamwork and commitment throughout the game, with every player contributing their best. Indian School Sohar proudly lifted the MFS Trophy, while Joel Christon was deservedly adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant 24 runs and a spectacular catch. The team was trained under the guidance of Mr. Kamal Gurung, with assistance from Mr. Sachin Ali.
Adding to the excitement, a Legends Cricket Match was organized between Legends Blue, led by Mr. Kamal Gurung, and Legends Red, represented by Mr. Sudarshan Gupta. Legends Blue secured a narrow 4-run victory, with the captain being adjusted Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal of Indian School Sohar, along with the School Management Committee, congratulated the team on their outstanding performance, teamwork, and remarkable achievement, while appreciating their sportsmanship and dedication.
