The ISS Cricket Team participated in the first edition of the SCA Cricket Tournament, organized by SUICI on 30th January 2026 at Majees Ground, Sohar. The tournament featured six competitive teams SUICI A & B, Shamal Plastic, ISS, A One Engineering and Kaefer, making it a highly competitive and thrilling event.
ISS had a challenging start, losing their opening match against Shamal Plastic. However, the team showed remarkable resilience and bounced back strongly to clinch the maiden tournament title in style. In the second exciting league match against SUICI-A, ISS chased a target of 56 runs, losing just 3 wickets in 4.5 overs. Aarav Raina played a crucial knock, scoring 30 runs, and was rightly declared Man of the Match. Avaneesh bowled with great discipline, giving away only 4 runs and providing the first breakthrough in the opening over.
ISS continued their dominant form in the semifinal, defeating the strong A One Engineering team by 8 wickets. Openers Sachin Ali and Sanjeev Kumar provided an excellent foundation for the chase. Sachin played a sensational short inning with 19 runs in 6 balls, Sanjeev scoring his first half-century (51 runs) in just 18 balls, earning the Man of the Match trophy. Niyas Ali delivered a tight spell, claiming three key wickets and restricting the opposition effectively.
In the final match against Kaefer, ISS displayed an outstanding all-round team performance while chasing 67 runs, reaching the target in just 4.2 overs with the loss of only two wickets. Avaneesh Gupta provided the first breakthrough in the very first over, while Sanjeev, Sachin, Aarav, and Niyas bowled with great discipline and control. Niyas Ali was exceptional, picking up 2 wickets and conceding only 4 runs in his spell. Sanjeev showcased his excellent batting skills, scoring his second half-century (51 runs) in just 13 balls, well supported by Sachin Ali and Aarav Raina, leading ISS to a memorable victory and the tournament title.
The young team captain, Sachin Ali, led the team from the front and kept the squad united throughout the tournament. The team was expertly coached by Mr. Kamal Gurung, H.O.D. Phy.Edu whose guidance played a key role in the team’s success.
Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma congratulated the team on their fantastic performance and for bringing laurels to the school. She also thanked the teachers who stepped out of their classrooms and proved that games and sports can go hand in hand with academics when discipline, effective time management, and consistent hard work are maintained The President and members of the SMC also appreciated the efforts of the players and extended their heartfelt congratulations to the entire team.

A friendly match between the SUICI ladies’ team and the ISS Girls team was also organized, in which the SUICI team emerged victorious after a closely fought encounter. Such matches play a vital role in helping young players gain match experience and confidence.
