25-02-2026

Indian School Sohar observed Matribhasha Diwas (Mother Language Day) on 22nd February, Sunday with great enthusiasm through special class assemblies conducted across different grades. Reflecting the 2026 theme, “Youth Voices on Multilingual Education,” students emphasized the need to safeguard native languages and celebrate India’s rich multilingual heritage. The celebration highlighted the significance of preserving and promoting one’s mother tongue as a vital part of cultural identity and heritage. The celebration underscored how one’s mother tongue forms the foundation of cultural identity, heritage, and values.

Students presented speeches, poems, short skits, and songs in their respective mother languages, reflecting India’s rich linguistic diversity. The assemblies emphasized that a mother language is not merely a means of communication but the foundation of thought, values, and emotional expression. Teachers addressed the students on the importance of respecting all languages and nurturing pride in one’s linguistic roots.

The observance served as a meaningful reminder that preserving our mother tongue strengthens cultural continuity, fosters unity in diversity, and enriches the nation’s collective identity.
