A Day of Exploration, Fun, Friendship and Unforgettable Memories
Indian School Sohar organised its much-awaited annual picnic and educational tour, bringing excitement and joy to the students of Class XII. Held on 8 October 2026, the tour provided a wonderful opportunity for students to explore Oman’s cultural landmarks, enjoy recreational activities and create lasting memories with their friends and teachers.
The tour commenced with a briefing session on 7 October 2026, during which 140 students and 15 accompanying teachers were addressed by the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, the Assistant Vice-Principal, Ms. Indira Sukumaran, and the coordinators, Mr. Kamal Prasad Gurung and Ms. Nisha Sobti. The students were briefed on the itinerary, discipline, safety measures and the importance of responsible conduct throughout the tour. The Vice-Principal, Mr. Yashvir Singh, ceremoniously flagged off the tour, marking the beginning of a memorable day filled with exploration and entertainment.
The tour included visits to some of Muscat’s notable landmarks, including Al Alam Palace, Al Mirani Fort and Mutrah Corniche. These destinations offered students an opportunity to appreciate Oman’s rich heritage, architectural beauty and scenic coastal surroundings while enjoying time away from their regular academic routine.
A sumptuous lunch was served at Foodland, Muscat, where students and teachers relished the delicious food and enjoyed a refreshing break. After lunch, the Foodland Hall came alive with spontaneous dancing as students, caught up in the joy and excitement of the occasion, danced enthusiastically, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
The group then proceeded to Naseem Garden, where the Physical Education Department organized a series of exciting games and recreational activities. The dedicated efforts of Kamal Prasad Gurung, Sachin Ali, and Niyas Ali ensured that the games were lively, engaging, and well-coordinated. Prizes were awarded to the winners.
Adding glamour and excitement to the occasion Karthik Dev of XII D and Zara Zabil of XII B were crowned Mr. Picnic and Ms. Picnic, respectively. Tanmaya Kumawat of XII A received the Funniest Award, while Nima Jafer of XII E and Joel Samuel Jimmy of XII C received the Best Entertainer Awards for their spirited participation and for adding energy, excitement, and enthusiasm to the picnic.
