The Department of Computer Science at Indian School Sohar marked a significant technological milestone on 18 October 2026 with the inauguration of its new AI Club. This visionary initiative is designed to provide opportunities for students to explore the rapidly evolving fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, and creative innovation. Operating under the inspiring motto “Dream. Design. Deploy.”, the club aims to foster a strong foundation in modern technology among students.
The event featured an innovative launch, highlighted by a unique robot-assisted ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by the Principal, Ms Sanchita Verma, followed by the official unveiling of the AI Club logo. Vice Principal Mr Yashvir Singh awarded the official club badge to Ms. Sanchita Verma, honoring her as the Chief Guest and AI Club President. The club's organizational framework was also established during the ceremony, with membership drawn from Classes VI to VIII and two student coordinators selected from each class section to lead their peers.
In her inaugural address, the Principal motivated the young members and led them in taking a solemn pledge. Her speech marked the official beginning of a journey centered on creativity, collaborative teamwork, the ethical and responsible use of technology. This address set a profound tone for the club, emphasizing that technical skills must always be paired with a strong sense of digital responsibility.
The ceremony concluded with a special exhibition showcasing an impressive array of robots and AI projects prepared by the students and teachers. These innovations were developed under the dedicated guidance of Ms. Deepa Dinesh, the Head of the Computer Science Department and Club Coordinator, along with Ms. Sudha P, AI Club Teacher-in-Charge and the entire Computer Science faculty. The visiting guests highly appreciated the students' ingenuity and technical skills, making the inauguration a resounding success and setting a promising path for the school's young innovators.
