Indian School Sohar had the rare privilege of welcoming His Excellency Shri Prashant Pise, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, during his first visit to an Indian school in Oman after assuming office as the Ambassador. The distinguished occasion was graced by Shri Kiran Asher, special dignitary, Mr. Abraham George, President and the members of the School Managing Committee.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Abraham George, President of the School Managing Committee, who extended a heartfelt welcome to the distinguished guests and introduced His Excellency to the gathering. In his address, he highlighted the remarkable growth of the school over the years, emphasizing its expanding infrastructure, commitment to academic excellence, and continuous efforts to provide a holistic learning environment for its students.
Mrs. Sanchita Verma, the Principal presented an insightful overview of the school's inspiring journey, showcasing its tremendous growth, progressive development, significant milestones, and outstanding achievements. Through a vibrant presentation, she highlighted the institution's excellence in academics, sports, co-curricular activities, and community engagement, reflecting the school's unwavering commitment to nurturing confident, compassionate, and future-ready global citizens.
The audience was treated to a series of captivating performances, including a soulful rendition of Vande Mataram, a vibrant Haryanvi folk dance, and a graceful semi-classical dance, reflecting India's rich cultural heritage and the exceptional talent of the students.
In his inspiring address, His Excellency expressed his appreciation for the positive and vibrant atmosphere of the school and commended its commitment to excellence. He spoke about the deep-rooted friendship between India and the Sultanate of Oman. Highlighting India's remarkable economic progress and its unique strategic partnership with Oman, he encouraged students to dream big and contribute meaningfully to society in diverse fields, including diplomacy. He explained the vital role diplomats play in strengthening international relations and inspired students to become future ambassadors of peace, cooperation, and understanding.
His Excellency encouraged students to actively participate in national initiatives such as the 'Bharat Ko Janiye' and 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaigns, emphasizing that such programmes strengthen young minds' connection with India's rich cultural heritage and instill a deep sense of patriotism. Underscoring the importance of preserving and promoting India's diverse artistic traditions, he suggested that schools organize competitions centered on Indian art forms, including classical and folk dance, to nurture creativity, celebrate cultural diversity, and inspire students to take pride in the nation's vibrant legacy. A lively interactive session followed, during which students confidently posed thoughtful and intelligent questions. His Excellency responded with warmth, insight, and encouragement, making the interaction both engaging and memorable.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by the school captains Aysha Hanan and Rojus Paul. The event was confidently and enthusiastically compered by Agnes Liza Emmanuel of Class X and Arshad Saleem Basha of Class XII, whose poise and eloquence added to the success of the occasion.
