Indian School Sohar celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with immense enthusiasm, patriotic fervour, and a profound sense of national pride. The programme began with a soulful rendition of “Vande Mataram”, the national song of India. The choir’s performance created a deeply patriotic atmosphere and reminded everyone of the song’s significant place in India’s freedom struggle. The audience stood respectfully as the young voices filled the air with love and reverence for the motherland.
It was followed by a lively presentation by the students of Classes I and II titled “My India, My Pride.” The young performers captivated the audience with their melodious singing and heartfelt expressions of love and pride for the nation.
Mr. Abraham George, President of the School Managing Committee, addressed the gathering and shared his valuable thoughts and reflections on the significance of Independence Day. His inspiring words highlighted the importance of patriotism, responsibility, and the contribution of every individual towards the progress of the nation. He also proudly announced the plans for expansion of the school in the near future, marking an exciting step towards providing greater opportunities and a better learning environment for the students.
The students of Class V presented “India Vibe Hai Bro,” a vibrant performance celebrating the colourful and diverse character of India. Through music, dance and youthful energy, the presentation showcased India’s unique culture, traditions and spirit of unity in diversity.
The celebration also highlighted the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, which encourages citizens to proudly upload their selfies with the Tiranga, on the official website, and express their love for the nation. The students spoke enthusiastically about the initiative and conveyed the message, “Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Dil Tiranga.”
The students of Classes V–IX presented the patriotic anthem “Hum Hain Bharatvasi.” The powerful performance celebrated the pride of being Indian and paid tribute to the brave men and women who protect the nation. The sight and sound of the Tiranga and the patriotic performance filled the gathering with a renewed sense of national pride.
Mrs. Sanchita Verma, the Principal highlighted the importance of the Tiranga, the values it represents, and the responsibilities of citizens in contributing to the development of a strong and progressive India. Her inspiring words and encouragement motivated the students to embrace their duties and strive to become responsible, dedicated, and committed citizens.
The students of Classes VI–VIII presented “In Praise of Motherland,” a graceful and expressive dance performance celebrating India’s beauty, progress and aspirations. Their movements and expressions reflected love for the motherland and the vision of a brighter future.
The Class IX students then presented a dance drama “Viksit Bharat” The performance portrayed India’s journey from the struggle for freedom to the aspiration of building a developed and progressive nation. It beautifully conveyed the message that freedom came through immense sacrifice and that the responsibility of taking India forward rests with every citizen. The performance was both thought-provoking and inspiring.
The Independence Day celebration at Indian School Sohar was a memorable and inspiring occasion. Through music, dance, speeches and dramatic presentations, the programme beautifully conveyed the values of freedom, unity, patriotism, sacrifice and responsibility. It reminded everyone that while we proudly celebrate the freedom we have inherited, we must also work together to build a stronger, safer, united and progressive India.
