“True freedom begins when we choose truth, embrace peace and let our actions speak
louder than words.”
Indian School Sohar commemorated the 157th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a special assembly, honouring the life and values of the Father of the Nation.
The programme began with a soulful prayer song “Itni Shakti Humein Dena Daata,” which created a peaceful atmosphere and set a meaningful tone for the occasion.
This was followed by a floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi by the Principal, Vice Principal, Assistant Vice Principal, Headmistress and Supervisor, paying respect to the great leader and remembering his ideals of truth, peace and non-violence.
A visual presentation took the audience through important moments in Gandhiji’s life and his contribution to India’s freedom struggle. It highlighted his birthplace, the historic Dandi March and the spinning wheel, which became a symbol of self-reliance and the freedom movement.
The assembly continued with an engaging quiz based on Gandhiji’s life, values and contributions. The students participated enthusiastically, making the activity both interactive and enjoyable.
Adding a patriotic touch to the occasion, the students presented an inspiring song “De Di Humein Azaadi Bina Khadak Bina Dhaal,” beautifully reflecting the spirit of India’s freedom struggle and Gandhiji’s message of peace and non-violence.
Inspired by Gandhiji’s vision of cleanliness, a Swachh Bharat segment highlighted the importance of maintaining a neat and hygienic way of life and encouraged everyone to contribute towards a better world.
The Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma addressed the students, encouraging them to follow the values and principles exemplified by the Father of the Nation. Her words inspired them to practise truth, peace, kindness, respect and responsibility in their daily lives.
The programme concluded with a positive message, to uphold integrity, spread goodwill, care for our surroundings and make a meaningful difference through everyday actions.
