OMAN ENVIRONMENT DAY

To mark the occasion of Oman Environment Day a special assembly was organized by Green Gyan the Eco club of Indian School Sohar which began with a prayer followed by a green thought.The news focussed on the environmental aspects of Oman followed by a heart touching song on the prevailing condition of Mother Earth by the students of class V. A short enlightening speech was delivered portraying 12 easy steps which one can adopt in their daily routine so that they can adhere to their social responsibility as a citizen of Mother Earth.The assembly also included a hindi skit which conveyed the message that everything that nature possesses has its own value and importance and deserves to be preserved.

Last but not the least the school principal Ms.Sanchita Verma appreciated the efforts of the staff and students for their eco initiative and also inspired and motivated the students to pledge that they would contribute their best towards preserving the environment of their host country.

Further to commemorate the occasion a beach clean up drive was organized on the 8th and 13th of January in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Cimate Affairs wherein huge number of volunteers of Green Gyan participated with great zest and dedication for not only cleaning the beach but also for beautifying the sandy shores which was admired by the local beach visitors .

The commitment & dedication of the volunteers was highly appreciated by Mr.Saeed bin Nasser Al-abdali , Director of Environmental and Climate Affairs , North Al Batinah region.
