ISM CLINCHES CBSE OMAN CLUSTER BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2016

The CBSE Oman Cluster Basketball Tournament 2016 was hosted by Indian School Sohar on 9th and 10th October 2016. Mr. Jaffer Ibrahim Ali Al Ajmi, Director of the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs, Ministry of Sports, Sohar Sports Stadium, Al Batinah North Governorate was the Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony. Mrs. Sanchita Verma, Principal, Indian School Sohar, welcomed the Chief Guest, SMC Members, and Mr. R.S Pathyarch, CBSE Observer, Oman Chapter. She inspired the players by highlighting the value of each individual in the team.

The Chief Guest declared the tournament open. The Mascot, the Oryx, was the main attraction who encouraged and motivated the participant. Six Indian schools, Indian School Al Ghubra, Indian School Al Seeb, Indian School Salalah, Indian School Wadi Kabir, Indian School Muscat and Indian School Sohar actively participated in the tournament.

Indian School Muscat defeated Indian School Al Ghubra to clinch the girls’ winner trophy. In the boys category Indian School Muscat lifted the winner trophy and Indian School Sohar bagged runners up trophy. Tiny tots of Indian School Sohar entertained the spectators and participants with dance performance in between the matches.

The Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony was Mr. Khalifa Khamis Al Jabri, Director General of Sports Affairs Department, Ministry of Sports, Sohar Sports Stadium, Al Batinah North Governorate. The dignitaries were welcomed by the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma. She also cheered the winning and the losing teams, upholding the true spirit of sportsmanship. The prizes and mementos to the officials, referees and to the winning teams and the runners up teams were given away by the Chief Guest. The tournament was extremely well organized and managed by the IS Sohar team which ended on a note of encouragement, motivation and applause.
