32nd ANNUAL DAY AT INDIAN SCHOOL SOHAR: AN OCCASION OF JOY AND ZEST

Indian School Sohar celebrated its 32nd Annual Day on 6th (KG to Std. II) and 8th (Std.III to Std. V) of December 2016. Sheikh Shri Kanaksi Gokaldas Khimji (Hon. President, Banyan Merchant Community) and Mr. Ali Said Al Abdul Salam, Director General Assistant for Finance, Administration & Project, Ministry of Education, North Al Batinah Governorate respectively were the Chief Guests and Shri Kiran Asher, Director, BOD of Indian schools in Oman and Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Shizawi, Acting Regional Manager, Bank Muscat were the Guests of Honour.

Head Boy, Ram Subramani and Head girl Surabhi Singh respectively delivered the welcome note. The President of the SMC, Mr. Abraham George profusely appreciated the relentless efforts of the ISS team. Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma stressed on the concentrated endeavours to achieve higher goals in terms of infrastructure and academic, co-curricular and co- scholastic accomplishments making the school a contemporary centre of learning to equip its students for life.

The evening witnessed a rainbow of cultural wonders of music and dance on both the days. The cultural extravaganza commenced with an array of fascinating programmes like welcome dances, Spanish dance and Shiksha ke deep which showcased the aspirations of young minds. Let’s Start Jump and the Tribal Dance gave a taste of Africa to the onlookers.  The thematic dance, Ye hosla revealed that evil cannot last forever and motivated all to discover the genius within. The legend of Pied Piper recreated as a dance drama held the audience captive. The beats of Garba, Bhangra, NSEW Medley,Acrobatics, Bountiful Crops celebrating the joy of farmers in Kerala, Thank You Teachers to salute the teachers as messengers of knowledge,dandiya, Indo-Omani fusion and the rhythmic beats of western dance made the audience sink into the depth of music, dance and joy.The patriotic dance, Desh Mera Rangeela, instilled values of love, sacrifice and humility along with a patriotic feeling for our multidimensional motherland.Vasudeva Kutumbakam, a costume parade depicting the concept of One World One Family, left the audience spellbound. The school choir enthralled everyone with their melodious notes and a train journey in the Railgadi Dance took them all along into the lap of nature.

The Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, in her Annual Report traced the long strides and significant progress made during the last year. Mr. Kiran Asher, the Guest of Honour, enlightened the gathering with his views on futuristic vision.

Awards for academic proficiency for the meritorious students of Std. X & XII were presented on 8th Dec. They were presented with gold coins and commendation certificates. And those from Classes VI to IX were awarded with certificates on 6th Dec. The staff and non-teaching staff who completed a decade of service were felicitated. The Head girl and the Head Boy delivered the vote of thanks. The programme rose to a final crescendo with the finale of the show, the foot tapping enthusiastic Rang lo on 8th Dec and Indo Arabic Fusion Dance on 6th Dec. The gaiety and enthusiasm in the whole show was almost infectious and attracted loud rounds of applause for the perfection that had been achieved through long rounds of training.
