20-11-2016

Indian School Sohar celebrated the Oman National Day with great enthusiasm and fervor to pay reverence to its second home, Oman. The whole school wore a festive look. The stage was set portraying the colours of the Oman National Flag and posters conveying the message for a prosperous and healthy long life for the Sultan in different Indian languages. The special guests for the day, staff and students of Al Hekma Basic School, were received by the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma, Vice Principal, Dr.Vinu Kumar and Supervisor, Mrs. Indira Sukumaran.

The special morning assembly at ISS began with the National Anthems of Oman and India followed by the prayer song. The Principal then administered the pledge to the students which made a promise to conserve Oman’s environment, culture and tradition. Thought for the day and news were presented in Arabic and in English.  The enticing song hailing His Majesty and praising the people of the friendly, peace loving nation was apt enough to fill love, pride and patriotism in the minds of the people. Dances were presented by the guest school as well as the host school. Students of both the schools enthralled the audience with their graceful movements. Students wore costumes in national colours. To express their love for the host country, ISS staff members also were dressed up in national colours of Oman.

Mementos were presented to the teachers of Al Hekma Basic School as a token of goodwill. Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma then addressed the gathering and congratulated the people of this welcoming country, which takes everybody under its wings with warmth and peace. She extended best wishes to the visionary leader on his birthday on behalf of School Managing Committee, staff and students and prayed for his Majesty’s health, long life and happiness. Mrs. Indira Sukumaran proposed the vote of thanks.
