OMAN ENVIRONMENT DAY

16-01-2017

To mark the occasion of Oman Environment Day a special assembly was organized by Green Gyan, the Eco club of Indian School Sohar which began with a prayer followed by a green thought. A heart touching song on the present state of the environment was presented and a short enlightening speech explained the significance of the day. A quiz was conducted to increase student awareness about the environment. The assembly also included a skit which focussed on e-waste and ways to tackle it.

The school Vice Principal Dr. Vinu Kumar appreciated the efforts of the staff and students for their eco initiatives and also inspired and motivated the students to take responsibility of the environment, with the understanding that their actions contribute to the world that they would inherit.

A group of four students from classes X and XI, accompanied by Ms. Ritu Sood had participated in the exhibition and tree plantation programme organized by the Ministry of Environment at Sohar University on 10th January 2017. The students had displayed working models of Aquaponics and Hydroponics. The school was awarded with a memento of appreciation for participation.

By means of these and various other measures around the year, ISS expresses solidarity with the host country and strives to support its endeavours for the betterment of the environment in Oman.
