CHILDREN

“There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children.”, said Nelson Mandela. Children's day, a day to honour “Childhood”, was celebrated with great splendour and fiesta at Indian School Sohar. The Principal of Bangladeshi School, Mr. Qazi Abdur Rahman, and the Examination in-charge Mr.Yeasin Prodhan were the Guests for the occasion. The celebrations began with the prayer song by the teachers. Principal Mrs. Sanchita Verma offered a floral tribute to the portrait of Chacha Nehru, the legendary freedom fighter, one of the architects of modern India, whose birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day.

It was a fun-filled day for the students at ISS. Children’s day celebrations were focused on children and their enjoyment. Teachers entertained the students by presenting a variety entertainment programme. Teachers sang, danced and enacted on stage to make the morning memorable. The school campus was buzzing with excitement and joy as the beautifully dressed-up children enjoyed the performance of teachers presented exclusively for them, and applauded wholeheartedly.

The celebrations were held for different sections. KG-II teachers presented variety of programmes for their tiny tots. Special assemblies were organized for classes III to V, VI to VIII & IX to XII. The performances by the teachers included scintillating dances, group songs & fashion shows. Thus the teachers lived up to the words of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, “I may not have time for adults, but I have enough time for children.”

Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma, greeted the students on this occasion and exhorted them to follow the path of Pt. Nehru who wanted Indians to maintain the cultural diversity and at the same time uphold the unity. She exerted how important it is for them when they live in another country forming a Mini India. "There's nothing more contagious than the laughter of young children; it doesn't even have to matter what they're laughing about": This is what everyone felt seeing the boundless mirth and rapturous joy of the students on the day.
