25th ANNUAL SCOUTS AND GUIDES CAMP

The 25th Annual Scouts and Guides camp of Indian School Sohar was held in the school campus on 23rd and 24th February, 2018. The Silver Jubilee event was attended by forty-two scouts and fifty-four guides along with 14 teachers-in-charge.

     The camp started on Friday, 23/2/18 at 7.30 am. Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal, Indian School Sohar was the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony. Dr. Vinu Kumar, Vice-Principal & Camp In-charge welcomed the gathering.  Ms. Indira Sukumaran, Supervisor, Middle School was also present.

 Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma in her inaugural address stressed that the scouts and guides should always be well disciplined and ready to serve others. A Basic test was conducted for all the participants about Scouts & guides laws, promise and prayer. Ms. Latha Sathish, School Nurse, educated them about First Aid through a power point presentation & demonstration. Ms. Ruchi Agarwal conducted a session on Scouts and Guides movement. The scouts and guides were taken to Wadi Hibi for a 3 kms adventurous trekking. Thrilling games like treasure hunt and tug of war were also a part of it. The special feature of the camp was the camel ride by the participants. The camp fire was inaugurated with the lighting of the campfire by the Principal, teachers in-charge & Patrol leaders. The skits, group songs and dance performances by various patrols of the scouts and guides were really mesmerizing.

The events of the second day began with the Baden Powell exercise under the guidance of Mr. Kuldeep Singh. Various adventure tests were conducted to check the stamina, physical strength, team spirit and planning strategy by the patrols. Mr. Ajay Damani, Member, School Management Committee was the Chief Guest & Dr. Mahesh Mistry, SMC member was the Guest of Honour for the Closing Ceremony. Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma gave her welcome address. Dr. Vinu Kumar, Camp In-charge presented a camp report for the awareness of the guests. Mr. Ajay Damani & Dr. Mahesh Mistry along with the Principal gave away the prizes for the Best Patrols, Best Camp Fire, Best Layout, Best Scout & Best Guide. Ms. Indira Sukumaran also joined the ceremony. Mr. Ajay Damani & Dr. Mahesh Mistry extended all support on behalf of SMC for the future endeveours of the Scouts and Guides programmes. Ms. Ruchi Agarwal proposed the vote of thanks.

Mr. Gagandeep Singh was the Camp Coordinator & Dr. Vinu Kumar, Vice-Principal was the Camp In-charge.

This camp was an occasion for the students to come together as a team, learn to share & care, to know more about the organisation, to exhibit their talents and to understand each other. It encouraged the students to work together for the progress of the nation & to serve the society in a better way.
