26th ANNUAL SCOUTS AND GUIDES CAMP

“A scout and guide smiles and whistles under all circumstances”

That most looked forward of events in the calendar - The 26th Annual Scouts and Guides camp of Indian School Sohar – took place in the school campus on 15th and 16th of March, 2019. It was attended by 36 guides and 45 scouts along with 13 teachers-in-charge.

       The camp started on Friday 15th of March at 7:30 am. It was followed by the inaugural ceremony by the Chief Guest Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal, Indian School Sohar. Dr. Vinu Kumar, Vice Principal and Camp-In-Charge welcomed the gathering and briefed the Scouts and Guides about the camp rules, routine for two days, rota chart, and gave other general instructions.

       The Chief Guest Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal accentuated in her address that the Scouts and Guides should always be ready to help others and think to go beyond. After the inauguration there was the Prayer Song and the Flag Song followed by the Promise. Basic test was conducted for all the participants; it was all about scout and guide laws, promise and prayer. Mr. Sudarshan Gupta, gave an overview about the scouts and guide camp activities and adventures held in the past.

        The scouts and guides were seen with full of energy and enthusiasm when taken to Wadi Hibi for a 3 kms adventurous trekking. Enchanting and breathtaking games like

Tug-of-War and Treasure Hunt were also a part of it. The lighting of the campfire was inaugurated by the Principal, teachers-in-charge and Patrol leaders in the evening. The group songs, skit, and dance performances by various patrols of the scouts and guides were  captivating and enthralling.

The second day of the camp i.e. 16th of March, started with the rouse at 6:30 am followed by the Baden Powell’s exercises by Mr. Kuldeep Singh. Mr. Gagandeep Singh was the camp Coordiantor .Various adventure tests were also organised to check the physical strength, team spirit, stamina and planning strategy by the patrols. The kit inspection was also held to check their uniform, turnout and cleanliness.

      Mr. Ajay Damani, Joint Treasure of the School Management Committee was the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony. Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma gave her welcome address.

Dr. Vinu Kumar camp-in-charge presented a camp report for the awareness of the guests.

The prizes for the Best Patrols, Best Campfire, Best Layout, Best Scout and Best Guide were given away by Mr. Ajay Damani along with the Principal. Mr. Ajay Damani extended all support on behalf of SMC for the future exertion of the Scouts and Guides Programmes. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Dishita Dave.

Lord Baden Powell said, “The mind is like a parachute. It works only when it is open”

The camp enables the scouts and guides of Indian School Sohar to open their mind and be ready to learn throughout their life and serve the country.

     It emboldened the students to work together for the progress of the nation and to serve the society in a better way since life is learning and learning is life.
