Indian School Sohar conducted a Virtual Special Class Assembly on 26th August, 2020 on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Mother Teresa.

Nun and missionary Mother Teresa known in the Catholic Church as Saint Teresa, devoted her life, caring for the sick and poor. Her birth name was Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu and later became famous as Mother Teresa after her great works and life achievements. She was born on 26th of August, 1910 in Macedonia. She joined a convent to become a nun in the year 1928 and then came to India. Mother Teresa was the founder of the order of the missionaries of charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to helping the poor. In 1979, she received the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work.

The students of Class VI - VIII participated with great zeal in the Special Class Assembly and showcased the life and works of Mother Teresa in the form of speech, slogans, presentations, quiz, quotes and enacted some important aspects of her life.

This special assembly was organized under the guidance of Section Supervisor, Ms. Indira Sukumaran and was coordinated by Ms.Tahseen Farooq.

The students admired the charitable works of Mother Teresa as she embodied a wonderful example for all of us to follow: to help and care for others. As rightly said by Mother Teresa,

“I alone cannot change the world,

but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
