INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2021

“Yoga is that Light, which, if you can light once; will never get dimmed, the more you practice, the brighter the flame will be.”

 

The 7th International Yoga Day 2021, was celebrated by Indian School Sohar with great enthusiasm on a virtual platform in three different phases. An Inter-Class Yoga Competition was organized on 5th & 6th June 2021 by the Physical Education Department on ZOOM platform.  Students took part enthusiastically and e-certificates were awarded to the winners. It was a spectacular display of talent, confidence, balance, strength and flexibility by young yoga performers.

The Physical Education Department and Health and Wellness Club, ‘Sanjeevani’ took the initiative to conduct an 'Online Yoga Session’ for the parents and teachers on 7th June 2021, at 5.00 pm, which was broadcasted live on YouTube. Yoga Gurus, Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Mrs. Sudha P. and Mr. Gagandeep Singh demonstrated various asanas, meditations, laughter yoga, breathing exercises, and eye exercises. It was an effort to spread the message to incorporate yoga into our daily life. ISS staff members, parents, students along with other family members participated from their homes on this virtual platform with great enthusiasm.

The Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma addressed the enthusiastic participants online and enhanced their knowledge about yoga. She stressed on performing yoga as it keeps the body fit and healthy which was very motivating. She also appreciated the efforts taken by the organizers for this successful event and wished everyone on the occasion. The session ended with a Vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Sunil Kumar, the Co-ordinator of Health and Wellness Club, Sanjeevani. All the vibrant participants were rewarded with e-certificates for the same.

On 8th June, a recorded video, wherein ISS staff members along with their family members performed yoga was shared with the students during the online classes in the 5th period. This encouraged the students to practice yoga regularly to remain physically fit and improve concentration.
