12-06-2022

“The more that you read,

the more things you will know,

the more that you learn,

the more places you’ll go”.

-Dr. Seuss

The main objective of conducting this event was to encourage reading habits among young students.  The importance of reading habit is linked to professional success, as it opens up the mind to new avenues of knowledge.

The Indian School Sohar library celebrated Joy of reading among the young minds under the guidance of Principal Ms. Sanchita Verma. The DEAR Time (DROP EVERYTHING AND READ) was observed in the classes I - V on 29th and 30th May, VI-VIII on 6th June 2022 in the school.

During these days all the classes devoted their first period in pleasure reading. Students and teachers dropped their normal routine work and dedicated the time for reading. Reading skills are important for their success as they improve their communication and language skills. All the students actively participated in the event. Vice-Principals Dr. Vinu Kumar, Mr. Yashvir Singh, Supervisors Ms. Gauri Gadgeel, Ms. Alka Singh, Ms. Indira Sukumaran also motivated the students to develop reading habits. Ms. Arti Bokil and Ms. Amruta  Hegde coordinated  the programme with full enthusiasm.  The staff also joined the event and motivated the students to read more.

The Joy of Reading, experienced by one and all in the school came as a refreshing change in the fast paced world of technology which has gained excessive prominence during the pandemic. The experience of reading in the classroom with the classmates, was indeed dear to all.
