ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION - 2022

Indian School Sohar organized the English Debate Competition, on Thursday, 11th August 2022 in the school auditorium under the able-guidance of the Principal, Mrs. Sanchita Verma and Head of English Department Ms. Divya Johari. The competition commenced with a prayer song sung by the school choir. Ms. Divya Johari introduced and welcomed the panel of judges and the audience.

Thirty-two participants from Classes IX to XII debated enthusiastically on the topic ‘EXPANDED USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WILL BE GOOD FOR HUMANITY',  under the keen observation and evaluation of the panel of judges. Students from classes IX to XI and a great many teachers were present in the auditorium to support and encourage the participants. The participants made great impact on the audience by their logic and reason. The competition was an enthralling experience for the participants as well as the audience. It was an effective tool to develop the critical thinking skills of the students.

Ms. Sanchita Verma, Principal, delivered the keynote address, declared the result and congratulated all the winners and participants for their debating skill, preparation and delivery of speeches.  

Ms. Sherly Joseph, faculty, English Department, proposed the vote of thanks.

The winners of the English Debate Competition are as follows:

Best Team: Aman Saji, XI A (For the Motion) and Zaynah Ashraf, XI B (Against the Motion)

Best Speaker: Zaynah Ashraf, XI B

First Runner Up: Aman Saji, XI A

Second Runner Up: Meghna Jayakumar XII C

Best Rebuttal: Zaynah Ashraf, XI B
