ENGLISH POEM RECITATION COMPETITION (III - V)

Poetry Recitation is one of the most important and effective modes of learning a language and appreciating a piece of Literature.

In order to develop self-expression, poise and confidence of the young students, the English Department of Indian School Sohar organized the English Poem Recitation Competition on 17th October 2022 in the school auditorium, under the able guidance of the Principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma and Head of English Department Ms. Divya Johari. The main objective of this competition was to expand students’ experience and exposure to poetry. The preliminary round was conducted on 12th October, in the class by the respective English teachers. The competition commenced with the prayer song by the school choir. Ms. Divya Johari introduced and welcomed the panel of judges and the audience. She made the students aware of numerous benefits of public speaking.

The young participants showcased their talent with full zeal and enthusiasm which was highly appreciated by all. The students learnt exceptional poems and recited them with proper pronunciation and intonation. They also gained self-confidence and motivation through this competition. The participants were judged on the basis of appropriateness of the poem, voice modulation and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, poise, confidence and overall performance.

 The principal, Ms. Sanchita Verma, Vice - Principal, Mr. Yashvir Singh, the Section Supervisor, Ms. Alka Singh and the HoD English Ms. Divya Johari congratulated and appreciated all the participants for their outstanding performances. Ms. Dishita Dave, the incharge and all the English teachers (III-V) were also appreciated for flawlessly organizing the event. The vision behind organizing this competition was to provide a strong platform to the talented young students.
